Every year, we have our year six students volunteer their time at lunch and recess to be S.T.A.R leaders.

They help the teachers on the playground by setting up a range of activities, and running games in all areas of the school.
Year six particularly enjoy helping teach the infants students how to play soccer.

This term, the Irrawang S.T.A.R leaders have been helping train the enthusiastic year 5 students to take their place in 2018.

Rachael Martin, Stage 3 Assistant Principal of Irrawang Public School told News Of The Area, “All year 5 students have been extremely professional in their training role, taking on feedback and going above and beyond for our school community.”

“Irrawang Public School has been blessed with fantastic school leaders this year, with a year 6 class, a 5/6 class and two 4/5 classes that make up our Stage 3 team.”

“Within these classes, we have so many diverse, wonderful students who love learning, not to mention being the best role models they can be for our younger students, they work hard every day!”

“Stage three as a whole have had a fantastic year being safe, responsible learners who show respect,” she said.

The Positive Behaviour for Learning data for Irrawang Public School is outstanding, with over 90% of students in the 4 classes having nothing but positive interactions at school.

Year six students are Irrawang are beginning to prepare for their next chapter as they start High School.

Ms Martin said, “Our local high schools are so lucky to be gaining such a beautiful group of students.”

“We will miss you dearly year six!”

The program is very popular with students at the school.

Brock from5/6F said, “I have enjoyed helping the kids on the playground as a S.T.A.R leader. I will miss the teachers at Irrawang Public School because they care about us and they are so much fun.”

Mackenzie from 6P said, “I will miss all the other students and the primary teachers, especially when they dance at assembly.”

Jed from 6P said, “I have enjoyed being a S.T.A.R leader and helping out by visiting all the different areas in the playground.”

A wonderful, positive program that encourages positive interaction between the ages at primary school.
