One week they have been seen picking up rubbish along the riverbank in Raymond Terrace and then the next week they were helping out in the kitchen at the Soul Café in Newcastle.
The boys prepared and served meals at lunchtime to those less fortunate who need a meal and a safe place.
Both of these activities were about the boys giving back and taking pride in their community.
The boys really enjoyed taking part in the activities and are looking forward to venturing out throughout the year to get further involved in other community events.
Student Antwone Ryan told News Of The Area, “I enjoy being out doing stuff for the community.”
“Clontarf is awesome that we get the opportunity to do different things like Clean up Australia Day and going to help out at Soul Café was amazing, to see people with not much and still smiling and happy is unreal to see.”
The Clontarf Foundation exists to improve the education, discipline, life skills, self-esteem and employment prospects of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and by doing so equips them to participate more meaningfully in society.
It follows the six pillars of Clontarf in the core areas of Education, Well-Being, Sport, Partners, Employment and Leadership, everything they do is for the purpose of achieving our mission statement.
