IRRAWANG High School has rounded out a month of fundraising with a fantastic outcome for their chosen charity.

The school chose the ‘Buy a Bale’ campaign to raise funds and awareness for, with their month long efforts culminating with a sold out Trivia Night at the Muree Golf Club.
Rural Aid counselor Mr Gary Bentley attended the school to speak to a whole school assembly about what the schools efforts mean to the foundation, and to the farmers.
His message really struck a chord with staff and students alike.
The fundraising activities included a ‘dress like a farmer day’, which was held the following week again because of its popularity.
The canteen sold ‘Parma for a Farmer’ burgers for a week, and all staff and students participated in a whole school cake stall.
Woolworths at MarketPlace Raymond Terrace came up to the school, bringing with them donated goods for a sausage sizzle, and even stayed to cook it themselves.
The final event was a Trivia Night run by the Parents and Citizens committee (P&C). which was a complete sell out success.
Special thanks went to P&C members, Leisl Kennedy and Belinda Beasley, who knocked on doors for raffle prizes, and organized an outstanding evening with many components.
In addition, the whole Irrawang High School community brought in over thirty boxes throughout the month of non-perishable items for distribution to our Hunter Valley farmers.
Irrawang High School representative, Lue Fagan, told News Of The Area, “In total we raised $8272.35, which was presented to Mr Gary Bentley by our outgoing school captains, Mitchell Swan and Georgia Sulis at the Year 12 presentation graduation.”
“Our school is well known for its fundraising activities, and our families digging deep, but this was the biggest effort in many years.”
“The best thing was that the whole school was behind it.”
