In October 2016, Ms Duma will be doing the Great Wall of China Challenge to raise funds for Ovarian Cancer Australia. Her initial goal was to raise at least $4000. Last week, Irrawang High School hosted ‘Crazy Teal Day’ to help with raising much needed funds, and helped Ms Duma to hit that $4000 goal. Email us today for a quote: ads@mcnota.com.au Jean Duma told News Of The Area, “It was such a fantastic day, and I’m so grateful to the staff and students for all getting on board with raising funds.” “The total funds raised for Irrawang’s Crazy Teal Day was $2052.96, and in total since I started fundraising in February, my total funds raised has reached $4299.76,” Ms Duma said. Challenge One for Crazy Teal Day promised that if the school raised $1500 Miss Henry would wear a dress, sing a song and have her head shaved. Meeting challenge number two ensure that if $2,000 was met, Principal Mr Baxter would shave his beard and Ms Duma would dye her hair blue. With both those targets met, the fun began. The assembly kicked off with an amazing Dolly Parton performance by a pink prom dress clad Ms Henry, complete with a flash mob of CAPA students. Ms Henry then had her head shaved by students Dylan and Louise Edwards. Mr Baxter’s beard was shaved and Ms Duma’s hair was dyed courtesy of Claire from Andrew’s Barber Shop Raymond Terrace. The Great Wall of China Challenge will be an exciting trip for this philanthropic and charitable Irrawang High PE Teacher. For 11 days, they will visit a number of culturally significant sites in Beijing, including Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven – and will trek various sections of The Great Wall of China’s both restored and unrestored areas. The Walk for Women Great Wall Challenge aims to raise much needed funds and awareness for Ovarian Cancer Australia to help them achieve their 25/25 Vision – to reduce the incidence of ovarian cancer by 25% and to improve the 5 year survival rate by 25% by the year 2025.
