Bonnie and her teachers came up with a plan to raise money and increase the awareness of Cerebral Palsy in one go, pulling together a school wide crazy hair day and out of uniform day on Tuesday, 20 November.

A special assembly was called with guest speakers Rachael and Kate from the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.

They gave the students and staff an insight into the nature of the condition, and what the Cerebral Palsy Alliance does to help people who live with it.

Bonnie’s younger sister Ally Cook, the inspiration for the fundraiser was also special guest at the assembly.
Ally is a student at Medowie Public School.

She was joined by her mother Margaret Cook looking out over a sea of crazy haired high school students and teachers eager to learn and help raise funds to support the needs of people just like herself.

Thomas Gillespie a year 7 student at Irrawang High, who also lives with Cerebral Palsy said, “It made me happy that others were learning about it because Cerebral Palsy affects lots of people and sometimes it’s not visible.”

Ms Luella Fagan a teacher at Irrawang High told News Of The Area, “The out of uniform and crazy hair day was a huge success for the Cerebral Palsy Awareness Fundraiser.”

“A big thank you to our school community for helping us raise over $700.”
