Investigators are reminding the community to remain vigilant after two men allegedly impersonated police in Sydney’s south west this morning.

About 1.15am (Sunday 16 November 2014), a 22-year-old female driver was travelling along South Liverpool Road at Sadleir, when she turned onto Sadleir Avenue and noticed an unmarked vehicle behind her with flashing blue and red lights on the dash.

Believing it was a police vehicle, the driver pulled over to the side of the road, as did the unmarked vehicle.

The driver and passenger remained inside the unmarked vehicle for a few minutes before the passenger approached the woman’s car. The driver of the unmarked vehicle remained inside the car.

The woman became concerned at their behaviour and left the location a short time later.

The unmarked vehicle, described only as a dark-coloured sedan, continued to follow her through the local area, before she eventually lost sight of it and contacted police.

Officers from Green Valley Local Area Command launched an investigation into the incident.

Inquiries into the matter are continuing and police would now like to speak to a man who may be able to assist in the investigation.

The man is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, about 20-25 years of age, with a full-faced beard. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and black baseball cap.

Anyone who knows the man’s identity or has any information that could assist police is urged to come forward.
