Hawks Nest Golf Club Social Club

THE great fishing challenge weekend was held 24th – 26th March 2017 against Narrabeen RSL Fishing Club.

The weather took a change for the better and blue water, rock, beach and estuary anglers were all in for a treat.

Ultimately there can be only one winner of the 2017 fishing challenge.

Narrabeen RSL Fishing Club earned 3170.3 points against Hawks Nest Golf Club Social Club Fishing Club 2821.7 points giving Narrabeen the 2017 Fishing Club Shield.

Over the fourteen years the inter club competition has been running, the scores are seven wins for each team making next year a very competitive year.

The whole weekend was a very close  competition with some impressive catches from both teams.

There were three new club yearly records with species including bream 1.09 kg – Marion Smith (Hawks Nest), Flounder – Allan Crittoden (Hawks Nest) and a  Long Tom – Rob Henry (Hawks Nest).

Both teams had some very good anglers with Hawks Nest Golf Club winning three of the four men’s and ladies division winners and runner up positions.

The Interclub Fishing Challenges Ladies division winner was Jessica Slow (Hawks Nest), scoring 120.2 well earned points, catching some great bream and a mulloway.

The ladies division runner up was Karen Glynn (Hawks Nest), with another very good score of 112 points, catching bream and flathead.

The men’s division runner up was Mathew Tubs (Narrabeen) scoring 218.9 points catching a great swag of fish including tailor, bonito, tragelin, snapper and flathead.

The Interclub Challenge winning angler and men’s division winner was Andrew Sharp, scoring a mammoth 230.9 points with species caught including whiting, bream, flathead, tailor and a mulloway.

The annual event was a roaring success and the fifteenth annual Interclub competition will be held in 2018. Great Angling.
