Inglis announcement brings buzz to Macksville

Beau Langford scored a try for the Sea Eagles against the Comets in their 26-4 win.

GREG Inglis joining the Macksville Sea Eagles has created a buzz around the town and a wave of excitement for both home and away players in the Group 2 competition.

Macksville Sea Eagles halfback Beau Langford shared the buzz around town.

“Greg returning home is huge for the town and club, Greg will bring another level of buzz to both the senior and junior football teams of Macksville which will hopefully bring great success.

“Hopefully in 2022 Macksville will have success in all four grades with a good preseason under our belts,” said Beau.

But the excitement doesn’t stop at Macksville, even their biggest rivals are looking forward to sharing the pitch with the NRL legend.

Coffs Harbour Comets winger Billy Griffiths said it’s a great opportunity for the players and a coup for the comp.

“As a local footy fan I think it’s great for the competition.

“From the short amount of time it has been announced you can already see the excitement in Coffs Harbour through social media.

“I imagine it will bring back plenty of spectators after a long couple of years dealing with Covid restrictions.

“With Sam Burgess now joining the likes of Brandon Costin and Clint Greenshields in a coaching position, it’s a great opportunity for the younger players to soak up the knowledge on offer, if they aspire to play in the NRL.

“As a player, the whole reason you pull the boots on is to test yourself against the best and there isn’t much better than Greg Inglis.

“I’ll be turning up with my A-game when I line up against him, that’s for sure,” said Billy.
