Feedback provided by the community, via an online survey, will help Council to prepare the plan which will support and celebrate arts, culture and creativity in our everyday lives.

“The MidCoast Cultural aims to deliver benefits to the community through arts and cultural programs as well as diversifying the economy to support and enable arts and creative enterprises to flourish,” explained Paul De Szell, Council’s Director of Liveable Communities.

Council is also hoping to gain insight into the way locals engage in cultural activities and is asking community members to share information on their favourite experiences, stories and community facilities on an interactive map on the website.

“This plan will help Council identify where improvements can be made, what kind of things the community want to see and do more of to enhance the local cultural experience and reflect the diversity of the region.

“Essentially the Plan is a road map to identify what we currently have, where there are gaps, what we want to be in the future and how we’re going to get there.”

The formation of the Cultural Plan is a process that involves the wider community as well as targeted groups and stakeholders for ideas and feedback. A draft plan will be created and will go on public exhibition later in the year, and the community will be able to provide feedback on the document before it is adopted.
