Email us – media@newsofthearea.com.au The Pindimar/Tea Gardens Rural Fire Service (RFS) gave live demonstrations of their life-saving equipment, next to Lemon Tree Passage Marine Rescue’s new multi-purpose boat. The vessel, which has come about as a result of concerted efforts to secure grant funding, will help Marine Rescue cover their large service area, which includes all waterways that lead into Port Stephens, as well as the Bay itself. The Pearls of Port Stephens’ Buy My Wardrobe second-hand stalls were well-protected by the Pindimar Bundabah Community Association’s (PBCA) new outdoor awning, which is also soon to be leased for special occasions. From their sales, the Pearls will be donating to ‘We Care Connect’, a charity for families living below the poverty line in the Central Coast and Hunter. Vendors carried food, home-made and imported items for sale, antiques and more, while staple events like the chocolate wheel and homebrew competition drew much attention, as did Jenny Little’s thong throw competition. While market-goers milled around, live music was provided by several local duos, including Doug and Trevor, Burt and James, and Jack and Joe. MidCoast Council representatives also set up several educational stalls, while a petting zoo offered experiences with farm animals. “The atmosphere is lovely; it is a wonderful place to have the community come together,” said Lesley Lane of the Pearls, PBCA and RFS. so many people did so much work to get it all together, it has a real ‘country market’ feel,” exclaimed Lesley Lane, of the Pearls, PBCA and RFS. Visitors got hands-on with the firefighting equipment that has saved the area on several occasions.
