Historical winery at Stroud offers more than expected

If you are looking for something to do with the family, to get out and experience you can you this right in your own backyard -Well, not far.

Travel up the Buckett’s Way to picturesque Stroud, and pay a visit to the Historic winery and homestead Alderley Station.

Alderley is a historic property originally owned by the AACo (Australian Agricultural Company) in 1830. Alderley house was built by convicts in 1831 and was built to house the convict farrier Francis McNally and his family.

Alderley Station, as she was originally known, was a Waler horse (War Horse) stud farm.

In 2016, Alderley was once again registered as “Alderley Station” after the recent birth of their Waler foal, the first Waler born at Alderley in over 150 years.

Julie and Colin Davidson will welcome you warmly at Alderley Station.

Julie told News Of The Area, “Alderley Creek offers a rich and wonderful history for visitors to learn about whilst tasting boutique wines, where Colin will tell you a tale or ten.”

“When you visit us, it truly is an experience that offers something for everyone.”

There are many friendly animals for the young and old to see and pet, as well as an extensive play area for the smaller children to play in while the adults enjoy a relaxing afternoon.

You are welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy the pleasant relaxing grounds, or come along on a Friday night for happy hour and an open mic muso’s night from 6-9pm.

Bring your instrument and join in the fun.

Alderley station also offers a guest room for short stay accommodation, giving guests an old world charm experience for a short getaway.

In the main building, Alderley Station also sell local products for purchase, like rocky road chocolates, raw honey, jams and olives.

If wine isn’t your style, they also stock Port Stephens’ famous Murray Brewery Craft Beer.
