THE Mary Boulton Pioneer Cottage and Museum, is a Nambucca Valley historic gem, and will soon be host to an event which is sure to delight local quilters.

President Mrs Leanne Welsh told News of The Area, “We are proud to be hosting a small quilt show for the Veranda Post Patch Workers on Saturday June 26 and Sunday June 27.”

This fabulous event is not to be missed and will be running from 11am – 4pm on the Saturday, and 10am -12pm on the Sunday.

This is not the usual time the Quilters hold their annual show.

Due to the disruptions of Covid-19, the Quilters Easter events were cancelled meaning no shows have been held for the past two years.

It was because of this, the volunteers at the Mary Boulton Pioneer Cottage and Museum kindly offered to host a small show around the museum buildings this June.

This show will have a $5.00 entry fee, which will include viewing of the quilt display, and visit around the museum.

The location for the show boasts a replica cottage, a barn with horse drawn implements, an industry shed showcasing the timber, beef, banana and farming industries of the Nambucca Valley, as well as an early Police cell, a cream shed with items from the dairy days, a bark hut showing how the early pioneering men worked and lived in the bush, and not to forget the Ellen Partridge Annexe full of local artefacts, all set within beautiful gardens.

This entry fee will also include a Devonshire tea in the stunning relaxed grounds of the museum.

There will be a raffle held over the two days with prizes from the patchwork group.

It is a fabulous opportunity to take a little time out, visit the museum and see the Quilt Show and amazing things the Mary Boulton’s Pioneer Cottage and Museum has to offer.

The historic museum is open Wednesdays and Saturdays 1- 4pm or by special appointment.

It is located 2 km east of the post office along Gumma Road in Macksville.
