Head to Valla for the VW Spectacular

Kombis galore at the VW Spectacular.

THE VW Spectacular is on once again, returning to its original venue at Valla from 24 July to 1 August.

This is the 23rd show of the bi-annual event, in 39 years, and it’s been a heck of a hoo-haa to get everything organised after the pandemic and persistent rain played havoc with planning.

“This has been a very stressful time rolling over everyone from the planned venue at Macksville Showground returning to the Valla Beach Holiday Park, a change of venue forced on us by the excess water on the grounds from the past floods,” Donna Pell, VW Spectacular co-founder and organiser told News Of The Area.

“We have achieved this with the help of the staff of Valla Beach Holiday Park and it’s looking like it’s going to be bigger and better than our last VW Spectacular in 2018.

“Valla Beach Holiday Park management have big ideas for the park for the future so we might see the out-going of old Valla and bringing in the new,” she said.

Sharing some drawcards of the event, Donna said, “High points will be the Show and Shine at Bowraville, this is a new event happening in 2022.

“There’s also the Nambucca Heads Show and Shine in Bowra Street, Nambucca Heads and Christmas In July at Valla, and of course our Show and Shine at Valla Beach Holiday Park.”

The week-long VW Spectacular ends with an amazing fireworks display.

“At every show we celebrate one particular car and in 2018 it was the Volkswagen Country Buggy.

“This year it is Karmann Ghia Muster so we’re hoping to see plenty of these on show.”

There are organised drives out from the Monday right through to the following Sunday, where people can cruise in convoy.

“We try to show as much of our beautiful area as some of the people attending come from as far as Tasmania and there’s someone from every state; they might not have seen our beautiful area.

“People can enjoy our valley and the friendship of other VW owners; after four years there’s a lot of catching up to do.
“Everyone is very excited about coming back to Valla,” said Donna.

Donna would like to thank a range of people for their assistance leading up to and during the event: Nambucca Valley Rotary Club, Lions Club of Nambucca, the local Fire and Rescue club, Nambucca Valley Lions Club (AFL) and Shore Track Ltd.
