Motorfest 2016 Motorfest 2016 Motorfest 2016 Beautiful sunshine, and a record number of vehicle entries to cap of a wonderful year for the Motor Club and its members. The day commenced with some Club members arriving at 6 am to set up the stage and Club gazebos. By 7.30am the first vehicles were coming through the gates. At 10am Club President Ross Anderson welcomed and thanked those who had come to the event for their enthusiasm and support. Great Lakes Council Deputy Mayor and local resident Mr Len Roberts then opened the days proceedings. Mr Roberts spoke about the history of the event and made mention of the contribution made by Beate Seil the wife of the Clubs Vice President Juergen Seil. Under the guidance of MC Terry Munright the days official program then proceeded. Visitors wandered through the lines of vehicles and enjoyed the BBQ food provided by the local Rural Fire Service volunteers. Visitors also enjoyed Tea and Coffee, scones and various other cakes served by the Red Cross ladies. Cold drinks were available from the Local Surf Club members. The raffle winners were drawn and announced at 1pm followed by the announcing of the various category winners for best vehicles and the peoples choice awards. The day was completed at 2pm when our President Ross Anderson officially declared the days event closed. Club members were thrilled to learn that the vehicle count was over 320 and this did not include the displays of motorcycles and speedcars and dirt track cycles. All in all a fantastic day. As well a great day for the local Community Organisations who are this years beneficiaries. The local community businesses and residents must also be praised and thanked as their support in providing the various raffle prices and buying raffle tickets contributed to the days success. News Of The Area mingled amongst the crowd for a couple of hours and took in the friendly atmosphere that once again enabled Motorfest to boast that it is truly a draw card annual event for the area. Crowds were healthy all day long with parking at times difficult to find in surrounding streets, but everyone from the young to very old seem to enjoy the efforts gone to by the organisers and car displays offered. Speaking with News Of The Area, Tillegary Auto Club member Geoff Camm said, “This is fantastic. Motorfest attracts a huge variety of motoring enthusiasts to display their hard work and love for older cars, but it’s also great to see so many members of the public coming to appreciate the work that goes into keeping our automotive history alive.” “Seeing kids with their phones and cameras out taking photos and hearing them say ‘how cool is this’ is really inspiring,” he said.
