SEPTEMBER 7th

Conditions were perfect for last Saturday’s Monthly Medal round, with clear skies and no wind to contend with for a change. The prospect of a stroke game often seems to keep our numbers down, so only 25 ladies competed. But the quality of play was not diminished by the smaller field, and it was Robyn Deppi who romped home 4 shots clear of the pack. 9 players were within 3 shots of each other to fight for the minor placings, so the match was very closely contested today. One of the ladies hit a birdie, though of the feathered variety rather than scoring under par!

Tuesday’s 18 Hole Medal Round was also played in beautiful spring conditions, with 43 ladies taking part. Donna Gorton had a great game, playing out of her skin to beat the field on 68 nett, with another half a dozen players on her heels within 6 shots. In this bunch was Helen Haynes who had 3 birdies, one a chip in on the 9th, in her winning round of 79 gross. Caroline Affleck played the 17th in great style, with her second shot to the green from 145 metres out leaving a short putt for a birdie 3. Other chip ins today came from Donna Clemens on the 1st, Deb Matheson and Sue Hair both on the 6th, and Fran Henderson on the 12th. Great play everyone!

Tuesday Lady Vets 9 Hole Stableford

A great field of 15 vets teed off on the back 9 today, and the competition was hot at the top of the leaderboard. Di Lindstrom and Ann Browning battled it out for the honours with 21 points apiece, with Pat Marr and Robyn Richardson locked together on 19 points for the minor placings.

Results: 1st Di Lindstrom 21 C/B; 2nd Ann Browning 21; 3rd Pat Marr 19 C/B; 4th Robyn Richardson 19; 5th Marie Pegram 18; 6th Pam Kelly 16; 7th Annie Scott 15.
