“This event, which was sponsored for the first time by Altitude Travel, attracted a large number of low handicap golfers from across the Newcastle District Golf Association’s membership,” Dave Gilbert said.

The 18 hole stroke event was a Newcastle District Golf Association Order of Merit Event. Dispesh Galani, Director of Altitude Travel said, “My company was extremely pleased to be able to support this prestigious event.”

“We are also the proud sponsors of the Ladies 14th Tee at the Hawks Nest Golf Course.”

A rainy start to the day, didn’t deter 70 players from Hawks Nest and the surrounding Newcastle District vying for the Cup.

Dave Gilbert said, “The scratch winner on the day with a fine score of 72 was Joshua Greenwood (Toronto Golf Club) from runner-up Oscar Gilson 73 (Newcastle Golf Club) and third place-getter, Warren Gorton (Hawks Nest Golf Club).

David Alexander 73 (Toronto Golf Club) and Benjamin Hawes 75 (Newcastle Golf Club) finished fourth and fifth respectively.

‘’The Nett event was won by Steve Majak 71 (Muree Golf Club),on a countback from Christopher Taylor 71 (Hawks Nest Golf Club) and Mitch Morgan 71 (Hawks Nest Golf Club). Fourth and fifth places went to Christopher Maguire (Muree Golf Club) and Darren Hodge (Hawks Nest Golf Club) both of whom also had nett scores of 70.”
