Hawks Nest Golf Club: No plan to expand club or relocate clubhouse

DEAR News Of The Area,

I WOULD like to address inaccuracies of the recent article titled “Plans to Hawks Nest expand Golf Club” (sic) which appeared in the 14 January 2021 edition.

Firstly, there is no proposal to expand the Hawks Nest Golf Club.

Secondly, there is no proposal or plan to relocate the existing clubhouse.

Over the last 2 years there has been a significant investment in the existing clubhouse.

This investment has included replacing and upgrading the air-conditioning, replacing the roof, refurbishment of the solar panels, painting the interior of the clubhouse, renovating the outdoor gaming area and replacing the carpet.

Future upgrades include resurfacing of the car park, replacing guttering, painting the exterior of the clubhouse and pro shop, adding an awning to the western outdoor sitting area and replacing the furniture.

There is no intention to build a new clubhouse.

The Hawks Nest Golf Club is not, in any way, a party to the proposed development on the eastern side adjacent to the clubhouse.

We do keep in contact and occasionally meet with the developers and their representatives to ensure the best long-term interest of the members of Hawks Nest Golf Club and to maintain a positive relationship with a potential neighbour.

Regards,
Stephen GATELY, President Hawks Nest Golf Club.
