The Grey & Thespian Mardi Gras Market Day is held in the Hawks Nest car park next to the Hawks Nest Village Square this coming Saturday 9 April.

With non-stop and free entertainment in the Square, from 9.30am in the morning until late afternoon, it’s a perfect time to promote your business, for a nominal fee.

For community groups, it’s also a great way to spark interest and attract new members, and the best part, it’s free.

There’s also free tea, coffee and cake for Senior`s Card holders courtesy of Myall Beans and Leaves and Coles at Tea Gardens. Just look for the big green teapot in the Square.

Please note that, if there’s rain or strong winds on Saturday, the live performances and markets will be moved to the Hawks Nest Community Hall in Booner Street. So, the show will go on.

Other events taking place this coming weekend are the Grey Nomads Cup golf tournament, teeing off at 10.30am on Friday, and there are still tickets available for a night at the movies on Friday and Sunday.

You’ll be amazed at the decorations our local artists have provided at the Community Hall to further enjoy the delights of “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” and its sequel.

There’ll be good, cheap Indian food for purchase, free wine tasting on Friday night, and chilled bottled water and ice creams for sale.

You don’t need tickets for the movies, just rock up at 6pm on Friday and Sunday nights.
And let’s not forget there’s something for the children and the young at heart, with a special screening of “Paper Planes” on Sunday morning at 11am.

It’s free for children and accompanying adults, and afterwards there’ll be a paper plane making competition.

Chilled bottled water and ice creams will be available for sale.

Tickets for the masked black-and-white dinner dance on Saturday night are selling fast so call Hawks Nest Golf Club on 4997 0145 to book your seats, or get some friends together and book a table.

The Grey & Thespian Mardi Gras Golf Day, Music, Entertainment and Shows.

Golfon Friday, movies that night, go to bed and get to the Village Square at Hawks Nest at 9.30am Saturday morning, and watch the fun begin with the Scottish pipes and drums band The Outcasts.
Sit down in front of the free entertainment area and enjoy a local band, poetry and story telling, a rock and country singer, a ukulele group, line dancers, a taste of a radio play, a choir, and more variety music to dance to.
Seniors can enjoy a free cuppa, and have lunch at the local cafes or bring a picnic lunch, as well as visit the market stalls.
Finishing up at 3.30pm in the afternoon it’s time to go home and rest up, and then frock or suit up for the Masked Black and White Dinner Dance.
Sunday morning take the grand kids to the movie matinee, have a nanna nap and then back to the movies in the evening to watch the second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
“Wow all this happening in Hawks Nest as part of the Grey and Thespian Mardi Gras,” said Allan Wilson who will be MC at the free entertainment.
“Also what about the Flicks coming back to town, we all need to support them and maybe they’ll do it again,” said Allan.
