Email us – media@newsofthearea.com.au The Coffs company was established by Directors Katrina Adams and David Bourke in 2005 to meet the desperate need for quality childcare in the sector and quickly grew into the largest provider of these services on the Mid North Coast. “We were approached by the Education Department’s Before and After School Care (BASC) team to work with them to provide a care solution for small, regional and/or remote public schools who do not currently have access to OOSH services,” David told News Of The Area. “Our model of transporting children from all schools to purpose built, ‘kid friendly’ centres, was seen as a way of providing access to care for families from smaller outlying schools. “The receipt of the additional Government funding grant will enable both the school populations and the childcare services to stay viable,” he said. Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh, in congratulating Community OOSH Services, heard that the company will use this Before and After School Care (BASC) Transport Grant to purchase a vehicle to kickstart an outreach program for outlying schools. “This welcome funding will build on their transport arrangements to and from Upper Orara Public and Karangi Public schools to the Community OOSH Services at Coffs Harbour PCYC,” Mr Singh said. “This grant program is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to ensuring all parents with children at public primary schools have access to BASC services. “I’m proud this Government is providing the funding to ensure parents with children at public primary schools have access to Before and After School Care.” BASC service providers across NSW were invited to apply for grants of up to $85,000 to support transport solutions to increase access to BASC services with priority given to students in small, regional and/or remote public schools who do not currently have access to BASC services.
