THE sun spilled through the windows, a fitting welcome to those who recently gathered for the Tea Gardens Grange Weekly Morning Tea and a special presentation.

The occasion was the donation of cheques from various groups within the Grange to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

Three cheques totalling $1,250 were being handed over by members from the Lioness Club, the ‘Grange Players’ and the organisers of the Easter Trash and Treasure at the RSL LifeCare Village.

Only too happy to receive the donations was long standing volunteer member of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, Rusty Sargeant.

“We appreciate everything the local community groups do for the service,” said Rusty.

“We’ve been able to put two helicopter pads in Tea Gardens and Bulahdelah, that’s all through donations.”

“The Lions maintain the helicopter pads for us, which is great.”

Rusty added, “A lot of people don’t know it doesn’t cost anything if you have to use the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, it all comes from donations.”

“It was a great pleasure for these Grange residents to be able to donate the money they raised to such a worthy cause and one so important to our community as the Westpac Rescue Helicopter,” said Grange Manager, Julie Woolard.

To donate to the rescue service you can go online or phone the Westpac Rescue Helicopter head office.
