THE Myall Park Croquet club members enjoy an active life.

Club member Gordon Ingate proves that staying active is one key to longevity, recently celebrating his 96th birthday with his fellow club members.

On Monday 28 March, nineteen members arrived to compete on quickly drying lawns and were surprised when the expected rains did not come.

Tony Jones told News Of The Area, “The members enjoyed two full games of doubles during which Suzie Fletcher ran hoop four from 20m causing much excitement.”

All members had been invited to enjoy Gordon Ingate’s 96th birthday celebration following the games.

Gordon has been a resident of this area for many years, and has a very interesting history and a love of the sea – with time spent competing in the America’s Cup Yacht Race.

“Gordon is a Club member and has been a regular player while staying here during the pandemic.

“He is also a member of the Mosman Croquet Club in Sydney,” said Tony.

“A morning tea party was held in his honour with a cake, candles and many glasses of champagne to toast his health, wealth and happiness,” he said.

Following Gordon’s birthday celebrations on the Myall he was driven to Sydney by Caroline, a very old friend from the UK, to continue his party with many other friends and family.

Congratulations also go to member Pam Jones who won the Club’s February competition with 49 points.
