Peter Rogers told News Of The Area, “Our Opens Men’s Crew, our Hunter Branch representative Under/19 crew and the clubs Masters Crew travelled to Pacific Palms near Forster for the Battle of the Boats.”

‘The Battle of the Boats’ Carnival sees the best surfboat crews from New South Wales and Queensland including the current Australian Representative crew compete for top honours.

Peter said, “The Open Men’s A crew narrowly missed the final by one place, the new Under/19 crew, competing against older and more experienced competition, were competitive all weekend but the Masters Crew dominated the racing to come away with the Gold medal.”

The Masters crew of Peter Rogers, Ian Taylor, Greg Ross, Peter McClennan and swept by James Fitzpatrick were undefeated on the last days racing to come away with the Gold medals from a very elite racing carnival.

“It is great that the clubs crews continue to do well,” Peter said.

“The family atmosphere and the continued competition success the club generates at present has made for a great feeling amongst the entire Boat section.”

Late last year, the Club’s Open Reserve Men’s Boat Crew created history for the Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Surf Lifesaving Club when they were crowned World Champions at the International Life Saving World Championships in Adelaide.

The results from the Pacific Palms ‘Battle of the Boats’ Carnival places the crews in a great position to be successful heading into the upcoming State and Australian Championships.
