IN a busy holiday season, the U3A Art Group have, yet again, been busy working to ensure the most vulnerable members of our community know they are not forgotten. Sonja Ridden, the U3A Art Group Convener said, “For the second year running we have spent several happy hours making cards that were distributed to our local nursing home residents in time for Christmas. Advertise with News of The Area today. It’s worth it for your business. Message us. Phone us – (02) 4981 8882. Email us – media@newsofthearea.com.au “The idea was originated last year by one of our Art Group members, Jeanette Hart, and was warmly welcomed by the entire group. “We embraced this project after having spent the previous two years engaging in fundraising efforts benefitting the education of children in third world countries. “Giving back in this way, which our Art Group members have wholeheartedly embraced, led us to consider needs that exist closer to home, thus the idea of helping our nursing home residents feel connected with the community was born. “We love our community, honour our elders and feel blessed that we are able to be a blessing,” Sonja said.
