Or media@newsofthearea.com.au Or CLICK FOR ADVERT QUOTE “The winter East Coast Lows have done our beaches a favour, sort of,” said David. “The huge incoming tides brought with them ocean flotsam and jetsam but when they receded removing the sand, much of the garbage that had laid hidden for years was left uncovered.” David told News Of The Area, “There are glass bottles, aerosol cans, PET containers, fishing debris and kids toys.” “There is a great opportunity to remove a huge amount of concentrated rubbish before the winds and tides disperse it again.’’ Currently, the Garbage Army stands at around 8 to 10 volunteers with 4WDs, trailers, bags and gloves at the ready. But more willing hands are needed to fill the gloves and all are welcome. The clean up is happening this Sunday 30 October at 10am. Assemble at Sandy Point Beach car park (off Mungo Brush Road).
