The Bulahdelah local beat nine other young ladies from across Australia to claim the national title.
Contest director, Yolandi Franken, said Gabrielle’s great business skills, beauty and fitness shown throughout the competition made her a “hands down winner”.
Gabrielle will now represent Australia at the ‘Miss Multiverse World’ contest in the Dominican Republic in November.
“I’m so excited to be able to represent the country and it will be great to be a role model for other girls,” Gabrielle said.
The competition was a combination of a modelling contest, television reality program and survivor type challenges, in a bid to find the nation’s most multi-faceted, multi-talented beauty.
“It was about building social skills, leadership skills, teamwork and sportsmanship,” Gabrielle said.
“It wasn’t about finding someone who is just pretty, it is about someone who is multi-talented and has good skills.”
The competition started with 700 applicants, which was narrowed down to 50 to contest the regional and state finals. “One of the challenges in the state final was an IQ test,” Gabrielle said.
“I love trying lots of things and every stage that I got through was more and more exciting.”
Gabrielle graduated from Bulahdelah Central School in 2013, and has since completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of New England.
“I really want to get into conservation,” Gabrielle told News of The Area.
“I’m looking to get into the media side of it to spread the word about everyday changes that people can do that can make quite a difference.”
For now, Gabrielle said she is “just enjoying the ride” after winning her national title.
“I do want to try new things and not say no to anything, just give everything a shot,” she said.
Gabrielle thanks the entire Bulahdelah community for getting behind her throughout the competition.
