Despite the sweltering temperatures, the venue was packed with more than 200 people who came to support Emma. Emma has been personally fighting Melanoma for the past 3 years and it progressed sadly into stage four around 18 months ago. A fabulous afternoon filled with raffles, auctions and entertainment was held, with a whopping $35,500 raised. Organisers were so overwhelmed by everyone’s raffles purchases that a search had to be undertaken mid celebration to find a bigger barrel to hold the tickets to draw from. The community of Raymond Terrace truly showed their heart by standing together to support this local family. Emma’s sister Kylie Murray told News Of The Area, “Our family is overwhelmed and cannot thank everyone enough for their efforts.” “Our darling friend Lee Campbell wanted to host a small BBQ as a way to give back to us and then it turned into one of the biggest events the Clare Castle has hosted.” “A huge thank you goes to Lee Campbell and Kerry Bloor for creating such a magical day that we could have never dreamt in our wildest dreams.” Thanks must go to the Dean Phipps and the Clare Castle Hotel for allowing Emma’s family to host the event. Kylie said, “Being Stuart (Emma’s dads) cricket teams sponsor, it felt like home to us.” “Thanks also goes to all the other Raymond Terrace businesses who supported us on the day, Terrace Meats, Bakers Delight, Woolworths, the entertainer’s ‘Band One’ and LJ Hooker.” Kylie added, “Thank you for all of the auction and raffle prizes donated from near and far around Australia, the community spirit and support will never be forgotten.” “We couldn’t be more proud to have come from a small town like Raymond Terrace, where community spirit exists, the support was incredible.” Emma’s Aunt, Michelle Armstrong, told News Of The Area, “Our family, friends and community proved to me that they are second to none!” “Even people donating back items they won at the auction just to raise more money, and random people walking in and handing over $100 and not wanting anything – just for Emma.” News Of The Area wishes Emma and her family all the very best as her journey continues.
