Or media@newsofthearea.com.au Or CLICK FOR ADVERT QUOTE Emma was featured in The Great Wall of China Trek Pamphlet earlier this year, after raising $72,000 for melanoma research by climbing The Great Wall Of China in September 2017 with a team of ten. Emma has been personally fighting Melanoma for the past 3 years and it progressed sadly into stage four around 18 months ago. Emma told News Of The Area, “I got my first clear scan in three years, back in December 2016 and sadly the celebrations only lasted five months cancer free, when a PET scan in May 2017 confirmed my cancer has returned.” “I currently have three met stat nodules in my lungs, six in my brain and three in my spine, which are sitting on nerve endings which affect my mobility and force me to currently be in a wheelchair.” Emma is currently on her last treatment option, a treatment called vemurafenib/cobimerinin, that causes extreme reactions to the sun, among other significant side effects and pain. If this treatment doesn’t work, Emma has been told she is out of options, and there is nothing more they can do for her. Emma said, “I may currently be under palliative care and writing this from my hospital bed, I may currently be in a wheelchair and this is a lot to take on at the age of 32, but I am coming out of my corner swinging.” “I’m giving this everything I have got,” she said. My mission is to help fundraise money for research, in hope that one day we can find a cure so others in the future don’t have to go through what I’m going through. There is no cure for stage 4 Melanoma, we are just waiting on new treatments to become available to keep my battle going. You can join Emma on this fight and help with a fundraiser being organised to benefit her. Come on down to the Clare Castle Hotel on Saturday 13 January at 1pm for a mammoth fundraiser. Entry is by gold coin donation, to participate in a massive raffle, auctions, live music and a barbecue. Major prizes, just to name a few, include a fully signed Parramatta Eels Jersey, Seafood platters, Beauty and hair vouchers, mowing vouchers and remote helicopters. Emma told News of The Area, “I’m not ready to be a statistic, I didn’t go down without a fight last time and I’m definitely not going down this time either.” “Who knows what the future holds, but I’m doing the best I can to make it as bright as possible.” “Help me make this possible, because without new treatments the harsh reality sadly is, I will die.” For any further information on this wonderful fundraiser, or to donate, please contact 02 4987 4444.
