The Friendship Group has been operating for more than 20 years. With a membership of over 100 men and women, the whole and only focus is to make new friends and have an enjoyable time together. “Bev Lee began the friendship group and is still a very active member,” Fran Wathen, a member of the group, told Bay News Of The Area. “Our group meets regularly at Diggers Nelson Bay on the last Tuesday of every month and new members are welcome to come along,” Ms Wathen said. The Friendship Group hold regular social events such as dinners and barbecues, as well as spending many happy hours on the beach and enjoying day trips together. There are also many groups within the mainstay such as golf, walking, movies and other activities.
