What many small to medium businesses may not know is that there is a Government service offering free support to start or grow a business.

Last week ‘Business Connect’ came to Tea Gardens in the form of a blue van parked on the grass opposite the hotel.

Former CEO Michael Hilsden, now mentor and advisor for ‘Business Connect’ told News Of The Area, “My job is to build the economy.”

“The whole idea is to build businesses that can sustain themselves, that are not going to go broke,” Michael said.

“We work closely with the Holiday Coast Credit Union in this area because they are the only bank in the area and they send clients to us.”

‘’We have been offering Government support in this region for around five years, and have over 300 local businesses on our books, some of which are in Tea Gardens and Bulahdelah.”

‘’The service is heavily subsidised by both the State and Federal Governments and the first four sessions are no charge, and a further six if necessary for a total charge of $125.’’
