Wotif’s annual Aussie Town of the Year awards are designed to recognise ten deserving locations across the Country that have made a unique contribution to Australian tourism.

The awards assessed Forster’s accommodation affordability, tourist demand and traveller review ratings on Wotif.com.

The awards aim to support local communities by encouraging Aussies to discover more of their own backyard and MidCoast Council is thrilled to have Forster on the list for 2019.

“It’s certainly not lost on locals, how fortunate we are to live in such a beautiful destination,” said MidCoast Council Mayor David West.

“I’m delighted to see Forster recognised for its great natural beauty, affordability, culture and lifestyle.”

Cr West said that traveller demand for Forster had increased over the last 12 months, which is testament to the fantastic tourism facilities and service providers throughout Forster and the MidCoast Council region.

And Forster is in fantastic company with the list made up of a mix of coastal and in-land towns, each with its own unique attributes, including the winner, Port Fairy in Victoria, Albany in Western Australia, Scamander in Tasmania, Dubbo New South Wales, and Warwick in Queensland.

“We’re so proud of our area and excited that everything we love about this place is being acknowledged and will entice others to come and see for themselves, why Forster truly is one of the best places in Australia to visit,” Cr West added.

  1. So…..
all the top 5 just happen to be coastal towns where you can watch whales. To put things in perspective….Port Augusta is a grade A dump. Yet it still beat Forster. Which isnt saying much.
This is a giant beat up.
