Food and wine festival bringing new flavour to Nelson Bay Regional News by NOTA - October 7, 2014 Nelson Bay’s glistening foreshore will be transformed into a hub of sights, sounds and taste sensations this November at the annual Tastes at the Bay Food and Wine Festival, proudly supported by Port Stephens Council. The picturesque Bay waterfront and d’Albora Marinas will come alive with local and visiting fine food restaurants, wineries, craft beer and a huge array of markets, music and kids’ activities. 40,000 visitors are expected across the first weekend in November, and they won’t be disappointed, with exciting changes in place for 2014, including live cooking demonstrations, wine, cheese and fresh produce stalls, live music, carnival rides and face painting for the kids, plus an aerobatic stunt show by Paul Bennett. Port Stephens Council Tourism and Events Coordinator Kim Latham sees the festival as a welcome celebration of food and culture to Port Stephens. “It’s not only a great day out with family and friends at stunning Nelson Bay, but an opportunity for us to celebrate diversity of culture through food,” Ms Latham said. “Enjoying food and wine is a shared experience and a universal language that translates no matter where in the world you are. “What better place to come together and share a meal than beautiful Port Stephens?” The Tastes at the Bay Food and Wine Festival takes place 1 and 2 November at the Nelson Bay foreshore and, whether you live in the area or make a special trip for this culinary celebration, the event promises to offer up the best mix of fine food, drink and entertainment anywhere in the area.
