Or media@newsofthearea.com.au Or CLICK FOR ADVERT QUOTE The PBL program, which stands for “Positive Behaviour for Learning” is a behaviour program in all five Raymond Terrace schools, that concentrates on rewarding good behaviour and not focussing on the less than positive. It is run in other schools across New South Wales, and has been meant with wonderful results and feedback. Around three years ago, it was decided to move PBL out into the community and publicly reward the students on a weekly basis at the MarketPlace shopping centre. Primarily driven by centre manager Colleen Mulholland-Ruiz, the Raymond Terrace MarketPlace has supported the program wholeheartedly and passionately. Each Thursday a student from each school (along with a staff member) is presented with a certificate and a goodie bag containing vouchers from marketplace, the Greater Bank and bakers delight. A photo of the winning students, and their reason for being nominated the PBL winner that week is then displayed on posters at the MarketPlace as well as on each schools Facebook page. During last term, Ms Mulholland-Ruiz suggested that adults connected with the school who also display their own PBL values should also be publicly recognised. So, each week an adult from each school is also now presented with a certificate at assembly, and also included in the poster being displayed for the week. Michels Patisserie sponsor this award, and the winners are given a coffee and cake voucher. PBL committee spokesperson Lue Fagan told News Of The Area, “This is such a fantastic program that supports nearly 3,000 students across the five schools.” “The positive outcomes we are seeing in the schools as a direct result of this program are outstanding.” News Of The Area is looking forward to supporting this wonderful program through our Raymond Terrace News Of The Area weekly publication.
