As reported last week, the Fingal Bay Sports Club have had some huge regional success whereby their two teams went right to the finals, against each other, to compete for the top prize.
Never before in the 3x3s Men’s competition, within Newcastle District Bowls Association, have two teams from the same club made it right through to play off for the winning position.

It was a historic and momentous occasion for the Final Bay Club.
In a grueling match the Final Bay Team 2 defeated Team 1 by a mere 7 points 66/59.
Number 2 [team] were number one winners.
It didn’t all go Team 2’s way. It was a tough game and Team 1 were not only were hard to shake on the green, but even afterwards they managed to get their photo in the local press as the winners of the event.
In error. Nice try boys!
The Team 2 victors were made up of Des Roberts, Michael Hoban, Arthur Nowland, Graham Weekes, Dave (Willy) Williams, Jim Partridge, John Gilligan, Ron Cowie and Dale Watterson.
Team Manager Des Roberts told News Of The Area, “The No2 team exceeded their expectations of winning.”
Dale Watterson, greenkeeper, said, “They [The Number 2 team] were exuberant to win the Newcastle District 3x3s Final over the Number 1 team.”
News Of The Area had great fun covering this story and look forward to more exciting news and results from the Club.
