RECENT relaxation of some COVID-19 rules allowed members of the Fingal Bay Probus Club to head to the wonderful Hawkesbury River and Wisemans Ferry area.

Club members based themselves at the Del Rio Riverside Resort, where they took full advantage of exploring the beautiful walks, ferry travels, and visits to historic buildings.

The group visited the historic Ebenezer Church which they rated as a “must-see”, as it is the oldest working church in Australia since 1809.

Julia Redlich told News Of The Area, “There are several intriguing museums, a host of local cafes and those all-essential gift shops throughout the area.

“And the one really rainy day proved that there was no better place to visit than the seemingly timeless Settlers Arms Inn at St Albans where the usual delicious lunches could be enjoyed cosily inside or on the sheltered verandah.

“Back at the resort there were some self-catered meals thanks to Roy and Geraldine Jeffery and away trip organiser Ross Jennings, helped by several cake and nibble providers,” she said.

The members enjoyed a fantastic few days of fun and friendship that is the hallmark of Probus Clubs everywhere.

For many that normally travel and caravan regularly, the trip was relished as a chance to get back out on the road, something they hope to continue in coming months.

The Probus Club of Fingal Bay meets on the second Monday of each month at 9.30am at the Fingal Bay Sports and Recreation Club, 100 Rocky Point Road, Fingal Bay.

The recent return to regular socially distant and COVID-19 safe meetings has been welcomed, for all the usual activities and members have enjoyed a return of entertaining guest speakers.
