A motorcyclist has died in a single vehicle collision near Maitland today.

About 1.20pm (Friday 5 September 2014), emergency services were called to Aberglasslyn Road, Aberglassyn, after reports of a motorcycle crash.

Officers from Central Hunter Local Area Command attended the scene, where they found a single motorcycle had collided with a tree.

The rider, a man aged 26, died at the scene.

An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the incident, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
