The Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Family Research Group is pleased to announce that its latest publication launched last week.

This is the “Tea Gardens-Hawks Nest First World War Anzac Centenary 2015” booklet, listing 30 soldiers from this area who volunteered for service in that war and includes the 6 who died and are buried in Commonwealth War Graves or listed on Western Front memorials.

Each soldier has been given a short biography, and many have photographs.

There are also letters and postcards sent home and treasured by families or printed in local newspapers.

The local home front activities are written up, with photos of Tea Gardens as it was during the war.

Members of the Family History group have been gathering this information from a variety of sources and it will be for sale at the Tea Gardens Library during the RSL Sub-Branch’s exhibition of memorabilia from 13 April to 8 May.

Full dossiers for these local soldiers are included in that display.

The booklet is now available from the Family History Shop 3 at the Myall Plaza on Sundays and Mondays, or from the CTC or the Visitors Centre. Cost is $5.00.

This is a chance for you to explore the military records held by the Australian War Memorial and the Australian National Archives.

Access to the records will be free that day, but we will ask you to pay for any printing.
