NSW Rocks is a statewide group bringing communities together throughout NSW through Rock Painting – Hide n Seek.

Ellen Taylor, school holidays facilitator at Coffs Harbour Neighbourhood Centre told News Of The Area, “Families across NSW are getting involved in NSW Rocks.

“It combines both fun and enjoying nature in a creative activity for all ages.

“The idea is to choose your rock and then paint it in your own design or even with a message on it and then hide it in spaces for others to find.

“It’s just a wonderful way to spread joy in the community,” she said.

The Lovells were one family that joined in the activities last week.

They created rocks with a range of unique shapes and designs, hiding some throughout the Community Village and taking others to a range of locations across Coffs Harbour.

Facebook’s NSWRocks community shares various ways to ‘play’ by painting a rock, hiding a rock and then if you find a rock you can post a photo of it naming where you found it, you can then either keep it or re-hide it.

Coffs Harbour Neighbourhood Centre’s School holiday programs were held 12-20 January and were designed to provide an opportunity for families to connect.

Activities included arts, crafts, cooking and games.

“Making use of the weather and welcoming outdoor space in the Community Village where we could was a bonus,” said Ellen.

Coffs Harbour Neighbourhood Centre offers a range of programs and supports for local families.
