She said, “The Manager of Community Spaces, Recreation and Trades, Daniel Aldridge wrote ‘The service provided by the facility at Tea Gardens is comparable with all other district pools within the MidCoast Council area and meets the respective community’s needs.” “In summary, your proposal is not supported and any change to services will be considered on a whole of Council approach and not on a site by site basis.’’ Ms Hart’s response to Council, “No structure of the community’s under Midcoast Council are of the same composition or need, therefore, they should not be treated the same and they should not be placed under a District Pool model.” She added, “During the last census the Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest area had the eldest population per capita in Australia yet you have decided that there is no need for a heated, covered pool in our area to keep the elderly and disabled active year round.” “The town is prepared to fight by doing a petition which has been distributed at a number of including both Medical centres; chemists; Tea Gardens takeaway; Coles; Hawks Nest Newsagency, swimming pool and BT’S.” Myall Coast Masters Swimmers have given their support to Jeanette’s campaign. She added, “Please drop into one of these venues to sign and support this vital project.” By: Margie TIERNEY TEA GARDENS: Myall Masters Swim Meet.
