THE town of Medowie has many hidden gems that some residents may not be aware of.

The relatively new Overflow Care Job Club may just be one of them.

The Overflow Care Job Club is a not for profit initiative of the Overflow Church in Medowie (formerly Medowie Baptist Church) located in Waropara Road, Medowie.

Overflow care are currently running two programs within the club; the Job Club and a CAP money course.

Pastor Brad Fewster told News Of The Area, “Our mission statement for these programs is that Overflow Care provides quality training, practical support and creative facilitation to enrich our community and empower people to enjoy life.”

“The Job Club is completely free of charge, and operates on Tuesday mornings at 9:30am,” he said.

“It is available to anyone seeking any type of work.”

Pastor Fewster said the club offers enjoyable short training sessions, and one on one support to improve people’s prospects of finding work.

“They help people to understand the way employers think, act and make decisions – for job seekers to know how to best approach their job applications and interviews,” he said.

The CAP money course is also completely free of charge, and available to anyone wanting to improve their ability to manage money.

Not everyone knows how to manage money well, and nearly everyone has been in a situation when they are anxiously waiting for their next pay.

CAP money is a money management course that makes organising your money simple.

The next CAP money course starts on 8 September, and runs for three weeks on Thursday evenings.

The Overflow care group have also partnered with BaptistCare and Good Shepherd to provide no interest and low interest loans for items such as fridges, car repairs or furniture that can lead to financial hardships when trying to afford life’s essentials and make ends meet.
