Elves and Helpers at Nelson Bay Golf Club Sport by NOTA - December 13, 2016 Golf ladies sitting down to lunch. Photos by David Birss and Rhondda Shaw Tuesday 6 December was a special day in the Ladies’ calendar at Nelson Bay Golf Club. An Ambrose team event with three clubs and a putter, rather than the 14 clubs allowed in a standard game, was followed by a Christmas meal and party. The course has never looked so colourful and certainly there has never been so many elves and Santa’s helpers seen on Nelson Bay Golf Course, some looking very playful and mischievous. Much work had gone into the synchronisation of outfits with the team members. Special mention should go to the team who won the ‘best costume’ challenge: Bel Hill, Marg Reimer, Pat Hawkins and Glenda McCaw. They would have all looked perfect on a stage in a Christmas Pantomime with reindeer hats perched on their heads, bright red ribbons around their necks, bells, glitter and tinsel draped around themselves and eye-catching globes as earrings. Then to top it off, to make certain there was no confusion, special pinafores with Santa faces attached. All very glamorous, fun and much appreciated by everyone. The results of the golf game somehow took second place to the priority of enjoying the food, catching up on the ‘goss’ or sharing details on how to keep the grandchildren occupied over the holiday period.
