Education Week was celebrated from 27 July – 31 July and is a major event on the NSW public schools calendar.

The NSW Minister for Education, Adrian Piccoli, states, “Education Week is a time to celebrate the achievements and successes of our students, teachers and support staff across all NSW public schools.”

Bulahdelah Central School certainly organised and displayed a number of student’s work and teacher’s presentations and focussed on creativity.

Principal Don Hudson was happy to share with Myall Coast News what events took place.

On Tuesday 28 July displays of students artwork were arranged around the school.

Then there was a Showcase Day on Wednesday 29 July where Year 6 students and selected teachers and secondary students put on a display of different topics.

The students enjoyed some drama, science, numeracy and PDHPE activities and were able to bond with students from Tea Gardens.

The Primary students from Bulahdelah Central School then let their voices be heard on Thursday 30 July as the public speaking competition was on and then a talent quest was held after lunch which saw students perform a poetry recital, dances, singing and a magic show.

The talent quest was organised by Ms. Ange Vella and the students were enthusiastic to participate and applaud the performers and their were many proud parents in the audience too. The talent quest is a way to showcase the capabilities of the students and promote self-esteem and confidence.

“The joke telling section was all about giving students the opportunity to talk and improve skills using a microphone and talking to the audience,” explains Ms. Ange Vella.

Ms. Vella was assisted by competent Year 6’s and teachers to have the day run smoothly.

It was definitely a week of motivating students and showing a love of the education process. Westleigh Richardson and Jye Jones were great MC’s of the Talent Quest.
