Easter Art Expo raises $14,000 for Tea Gardens Public School Tea Gardens, Hawks Nest by NOTA - April 15, 2015 Thirty eight years on and still the biggest fundraising event for Tea Gardens Public School, the Easter Art Expo at the school has proved to be a winner with locals and visitors alike. Christine Carter and Christine Weismantel In its tenth year of exhibiting at the school, the Expo saw a consistent stream of people with the inclement weather of Good Friday and Easter Saturday giving a good excuse to go indoors and peruse the Art and Crafts on display. The Thursday opening night was a hit with Student Art and donated prizes going under the hammer in a bidding frenzy that saw the Year 6 group work sell for over $800. The buyers were local parents keen to have a lasting memory of their child’s final year at Tea Gardens Public School. With artworks from local artists and from around the country on display, there was a huge choice of works available for purchase in all price ranges with proceeds from the sales going to the P and C fundraising. This year’s coordinator, Christine Weismantel said, “ I wish to thank everyone involved in the setting up and running of the event, which this year raised around $14,000 for the school.” “Without the wonderful volunteers, sponsors and helpers, the Expo would not be the successful event that it was this year. The P & C fundraise all year to provide those extra things that a school needs to give students the best learning experience available.” Thanks Christine and to everyone involved in the 2015 Easter Art Expo. It just goes to show what sort of community we have, always willing to pitch in with their time and dig into their pockets for a worthy cause.
