Staff revelled in dressing up in trashy creations, decorating the grounds with spooky props and sharing important conservation messages with a Halloween twist.

Visitors arrived in colourful Halloween costumes, and many took the time to create impressive outfits made from recycled trash.

A highlight of the event was the ‘trashion and costume parade’, with prizes awarded to the best dressed.

“Fright Night was a great event and a fun way to spread vital conservation messages,” Dolphin Marine Conservation Park Life Science Manager Tiga Cross said.

Tiga said locals can do simple things at home to help protect marine and other wildlife including picking up plastic and other rubbish and putting it in the correct bins, blowing bubbles at parties instead of balloons, and keeping pets inside at night to save attacks on wildlife.

“Dolphin Marine Conservation Park actively supports the Seal the Loop Program and encourages people to deposit discarded fishing line into the many blue bins located along the coast,” Tiga said.
