SIXTEEN theatrical productions of Disney’s Moana Junior will hit the stage from 13 to 23 January 2022 at the Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium. The Naidu Theatre Co. invited local singers, dancers, musicians and actors to audition for roles based on the iconic movie and were overwhelmed with the response after receiving several hundred audition applications. The casting panel were left with the daunting task of selecting a shortlist for second auditions which were held over a two hour period at the Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium. Once the final cast was set, intense practice started immediately at the Woolgoolga Performing Arts Studio to prepare for the sixteen show extravaganza. Director at the Naidu Theatre Co., Jade Naidu, said the casting crew were blown away with the quality of local talent. “The response was overwhelming, we received several hundred auditions which we worked through meticulously. ”There is so much talent on the Coffs Coast, we were blown away by the quality of the local performers and it took a long time to decide who to invite for a second audition. “We held the second auditions at the Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium over two hours where local performers worked in groups and performed solos, the Coffs Conservatorium has excellent acoustics and is well suited for a production like this. “Once again the casting crew had a tough time selecting the final cast but once we made the decision we went straight into practicing and rehearsals and everything is on track for our opening performance on 13 January, we can’t wait to engage with the community. “Tickets for the show are available via our website at www.naiduperformingarts.com or on www.eventbrite.com.au,” said Jade.
