Daniel Sahyoun Daniel was offered a place studying a Bachelor of Communications majoring in Journalism at the University of Newcastle. “I’m hoping the degree will allow me to combine my love of travel and writing,” he said. Daniel is an avid traveller and recently returned from a trip to Korea, his 19th country. On top of being accepted into his degree, Daniel has also been offered an Equity Scholarship which gives him $1500 per semester to help with university costs. He said the biggest difference he was anticipating between high school and university was the number of students. “I’ll be going from a school with 500 students to a campus with 35,000,” he said. Daniel will not be leaving Bulahdelah to continue his studies but will stay one night a week in Newcastle with relatives to help take pressure off the commute. He said aside from attending Newcastle University, other school mates had opted for Armidale University while some would be taking gap years.
