We are continually overwhelmed by the support of the community to help educate our children to recognise, react and report and in general by “keeping kids safe”. “We are now planning to make the 11th Day for Daniel even bigger and better. This will take place on Friday October 30th 2015. If you are interested in participating please visit dayfordaniel.com.au. Bulahdelah Central School participated this year to help raise awareness of child safety, protection and harm prevention. It is about educating children and adults about keeping kids safe through child safety and protection initiatives. Primary students at Bulahdelah Central School were encouraged to wear something red on the day. The foundation coordinates school activities to educate students with regards to strategies to protect themselves. An age appropriate DVD was shown to each Stage during the day. The Bulahdelah school students also brought in silver coins for a ‘coin line’. This line extended to 54 metres and raised $230.85 for the foundation. Teacher and coordinator of the day, Ms Vella said she was very pleased with the response from staff and students. “Parents can now follow this activity up by organising a ‘password’,” said Ms Vella. “Something like your favourite food, ‘lasagne’ for example,” she said. The idea behind this is if a person says they are meant to pick your child up from school, your child would first test them on the password. The Karuah Public School also participated in the special day as well.
