COFFS Harbour’s Daniel Campbell is on a scorching streak as he gears up for the IInternational Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football (IFCPF) Asia Cup in Melbourne next week.

This marks a historic moment for Australia, as it’s the first time an international tournament for Paralympic Football has been hosted in the country since the 2000 Olympics.

Campbell shone brightly during the recent Football Australia CP Nationals, where he played a pivotal role in helping New South Wales clinch their thirteenth national title in a row.

His exceptional performance earned him the prestigious Player of the Tournament award, and secured the Golden Boot with an impressive tally of eleven goals across six games.

Hard work has been the cornerstone of Daniel’s success, and he attributes his achievements to his dedication and perseverance.

“It felt great winning FT3 (Daniel’s classification) player of the tournament and winning the golden boot award with eleven goals in six games,” he said.

“It’s probably one of my best nationals I have played personally for a while.

“It’s good to see that all the hard work I’ve been putting in leading up to the tournament with winning a couple of personal trophies but majorly winning nationals with NSW for the thirteenth time in a row.

“All the boys played really well as a team.”

Having been selected to represent Australia, Campbell is now focusing all his attention on the upcoming Asia Cup, set to kick off on November 4.

“The Asian Cup being held in Australia is so important, firstly it’s on home soil so we can play and represent our country in front of all our family and friends.

“It’s also great for all the fans of the Pararoos who can watch the game live.

“But secondly it’s the first home tournament in Australia since the 2000 Sydney Paralympics which was over two decades ago.

“It is going to be really exciting not only for the Pararoos but for everyone with cerebral palsy and acquired brain injuries,” Campbell said.
