DANCING is just one of our activities that have been severely effected by COVID-19, with many studios temporarily closing.

Medowie Dance Studio, Dance n Dazzle, have adjusted their classes and how they are delivered in order to keep some normality in life for their dedicated students.

Their last day of official classes was on Saturday 21st March, the following evening it was announced that indoor sport was to cease as of Midday on Monday 23 March.

Corynne Darcy from Dance n Dazzle Studio told News Of The Area, “Within a couple of days I knew that I had to get something up and running for my dancers, they needed some normality in their lives and so did I.”

She added, “We were all very anxious so I decided to start dance classes from inside my home so, with the help of my two daughters Kyara, aged 15 and Scarlett, aged 11, we took it in turns to film each other dancing.”

The online lessons are available to students and their families via a private Facebook page and Zoom has been used to stay connected.

The classes allow students to continue to practice, improve their flexibility, stamina, physical and mental health.

Sadly, the mid-year concert that occurs at the end of this term has been cancelled and it is highly likely that our Jazz, Ballet and National Character exams will not go ahead this year. A Covid-19 Safe Dance Policy has already been written ready for whenever students may be allowed to dance together again.

Student Mikaela Neil told News Of The Area, “My favourite thing to do is dance, I am grateful that I am able to connect with my dance teachers and friends online during this time.”

“Thank-you Dance ‘n Dazzle for bringing dancing into our homes and continuing to spread positivity.”

Olivia Storer, aged 7, said, “I love being able to do online dance classes because I miss going to dance and this way I can still dance.”

Hopefully with the easing of restrictions the return to in-studio dancing isn’t too far away.
