DESPITE the never-ending challenges of 2021, which included her studio being shut down for four months, Dance ‘n Dazzle Studio Principal Corynne Darcy tried to remain optimistic throughout.

Returning to classes in the second week of November, Dance ‘n’ Dazzle students immediately completed their LGTDA Tap Exams, followed a fortnight later with their ATOD Classical Ballet, Jazz and National Character Exams.

“The exam results were outstanding and a credit to the students with a 100 percent pass rate,” Corynne Darcy.

“Three weeks later we had managed to choreograph whole dance numbers ready for our concert which was supposed to be held on 19 December.”

Unfortunately, the annual concert was cancelled, with high numbers of student dancers in isolation after becoming Covid-19 close contacts at school.

“At the dress rehearsal and photograph day on 12 December you couldn’t wipe the smiles off the kids or the parents faces – they were so excited.

“Unfortunately, we made the difficult and heartbreaking decision to postpone the concert the day before, for the safety and well-being of everyone,” Corynne said.

Not to be deterred, Corynne reports her students, from Tiny Dazzlers (aged 2-4 years) right up to Adult Ballet, Jazz and Tap classes are excited to be performing in 2022, and hope to perform their 2021 Concert on Sunday 13 February.

“We will also aim to have a mid-year Mini-Concert and End of Year Concert as well this year which will mean three concerts in 2022.

“At the Dress Rehearsal we had a professional photographer, Glorious Mess Photography, so that families could send photos to their loved ones as many had family all over Australia and overseas,” said Corynne.

Dance ‘n Dazzle Studio is celebrating its 27th year in Medowie this year.

During the studio’s Covid shutdown last year, Corynne offered free online lessons to all students.

“It was a great release for many and very well received.

“It was our goal to give children something to look forward to after such a difficult year,” Corynne said.
