Cyclist critical after collision at Bankstown

A cyclist is in a critical condition in Liverpool Hospital with spinal injuries after his bike and a car crashed at Bankstown last night.

The crash happened about 7.30pm (Thursday 2 October 2014), at a roundabout at the intersection of Eldridge Road and Gallipoli Street.

A 59-year-old man, from Condell Park, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital. Police have been told he sustained spinal fractures and head injuries, and is reported to be in a critical condition.

The driver of the car, a 26-year-old man from Ashfield, has provided a statement to police
